Falcons 2023 - 2024

Hello and welcome to the Falcons Class page! We hope you all had a nice summer break and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to Ashgate. The Falcons class team consists of:

Swimming, Cafe and Library

This term the Falcons will be swimming at The Forum every Thursday morning. Please can you ensure your child has their swimming kit with them every Thursday up until the Christmas holidays. 

We will also be visiting The Forum café after swimming for a snack each week and any extra donations towards these costs are much appreciated. If you could spare some change that would be very useful so that the children can practise paying for items in the café. 

After the café we will visit the library where the children will explore the children’s area and share books. The children will be able to choose a book to bring back to school.

Class fund, snack and water

We have a class fund which supports snack, cooking and any other items we may need for class. We are asking for a contribution of £1 a week to the class fund. A range of healthy snacks are offered to the children every morning including raisins, toast, crackers and cereal. Please inform the Falcons team of any dietary requirements. We also have class water bottles for the children to access throughout the day. These bottles are refilled regularly with fresh water ensuring all children are hydrated.

Communication

We use home school diaries to communicate about your child’s day and you can use this book to communicate back to the class team. Feel free to write anything that you feel might impact their day at school or anything else that is important for us to know, e.g. sleep, eating etc.

Forest Schools                

Every Tuesday afternoon the Falcons will take part in a forest school session led by myself (Tom, the class teacher.) I am a fully trained Forest School Lead and will look to link sessions with the class topic and also build confidence as well as independence. The children will be in the forest in all weather conditions, so if you could send a set of wellies and waterproofs that would be great.

The Romans

This term the Falcons are going to be learning all about the Romans, looking at the history of their empire and all the things they innovated and invented.

As part of our ongoing literacy work we would love for your child to share some weekend news each week. If it is possible could you please send a photo of your weekend to the email above so that we can share them in Literacy on a Monday morning. We are excited to see what our Falcons have got up to!
