Rights Respecting School
Ashgate School embraces the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and enables all members of the school and local community to understand about Children's Rights.
We are delighted to have achieved the Bronze level for the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award and are working towards Silver.
Using the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as a foundation provides a values framework that supports and guides the adults and puts the child at the centre of everything we do. The children learn about themselves and others and their learning is widened to include an awareness of their community and extended to the wider world.
The principles of the UNCRC
- best interests of the child
- life, survival and development
are demonstrated by all staff and are reflected throughout school.
