School Nurse

Ashgate's School Nurse  is Emma Wilson In addition to this we also have a Nursing Assistant - Wendy Barlow.

Welcome to the Children’s Special Needs Nursing Team

Who are we?
The Special Needs team consists of community nurses, school nurses and school nurse assistants. We provide support and planned care within the Community, home and Special needs school environment for children and young people age 0-19 with physical and learning disabilities and complex health needs

We work closely with the Children’s Community Nursing team and Palliative Care Team (STAR team).

We are also part of the feeding and swallowing team and Child Development team.

What do we do?
The teams provide care, support and advice for the child/ young person and their family within the home, school and community environment. We work as part of a multidisciplinary team with other professionals from Health, Education and Social services.

Our Aims
To co-ordinate and deliver planned care using a family centred, multidisciplinary approach within the home, school and community.

To enhance the quality of life for children/ young people and their families; give support needed to care for a child/ young person with special needs.
