Black History Month

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Penguins Year: 2023 - 2024

We have celebrated Black History Month this October in Penguins Class.  We have learned about Music around the world, different people from history and cooked dishes to celebrate this month.  We learned about Martin Luther King and what he did for social justice and wrote about our own dreams.  We celebrated music from different parts of Africa and played along with it and we cooked some Jamaican dishes such as Jamaican curry and Jamaican Ginger Cake.  We had a cook off at school for our Black History cooking creations and with our Jamaican curry, we came third!
