Pumpkin Picking

Lesson: Understanding the World

Class: Bluebirds Year: 2023 - 2024

Pumpkin picking

During this term in the Bluebirds class, the students have been learning about traditional tales. As part of this, they read the book Cinderella and explored the different characters and themes within it. One of these themes was pumpkins, which led to a visit to a nearby pumpkin patch just before Halloween.

At the pumpkin patch, the students had the opportunity to explore the different shapes and colours of the pumpkins. They were accompanied by the Falcons class and had the chance to socialize and make new friends. Each student picked two pumpkins to take home with them. Along the way, they also had the opportunity to meet some goats, sheep, and cows. The students enjoyed feeding the animals and watching them play.

After exploring the pumpkin patch and picking their pumpkins, the students had lunch together and discussed their favourite parts of the day. On the way back, some of them even took a little nap as they were tired from the fun-filled day.
