The Worry Monster

Lesson: Personal, Social and Emotional Education

Class: Bluebirds Year: 2023 - 2024

The Worry Monster

In the Bluebirds class this term, we have been focusing on our emotions, particularly our anxieties and worries. To help the children effectively deal with their worries, we have introduced a new friend called the worry monster. The worry monster is here to eat up all of our worries and assist us in managing them. Our class also received a book from The Worry Monster, which guides us on how to cope with our worries and make them disappear. The children have been thrilled to have the worry monster in class and have taken him on all our activities, such as swimming, library visits, pumpkin picking, parties, and even to Village 135. The worry monster has been a great way for the children to express their emotions without having to talk to anyone. Throughout the day, the worry monster is available with slips for the children to write down their worries, which helps to relieve their anxieties. The worry monster has become a trusted companion for the children, offering them a safe outlet to share their emotions. By writing down their worries and communicating them with the worry monster, the children feel a sense of relief and empowerment. This straightforward yet effective tool has not only helped ease their anxieties but has also fostered a supportive and empathetic classroom environment.
