Visiting the Bridgewater Hall

Lesson: Music

Class: Kingfishers Year: 2023 - 2024

Yesterday, the Kingfisher class had a fabulous trip out to go to a concert at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

We had a trip into town on the tram, which we all really enjoyed, then walked the short distance to the Bridgewater Hall. We were one of the first schools there so we were lucky enough to be able to get to sit right at the front! We were very excited to see what was going to happen.

Three musicians Tom, Adam and Layla, played their instruments for us to enjoy. They were very good. They came out into the audience and walked around so that we could all see and hear the music up close. Tom played the French Horn, Adam the English Horn and Layla played a flute. They played lots of different short pieces for us to sway, clap, move and even dance along to. We were the only school who got up and had a good old boogie to the tunes! We recognised the music from Strictly Come Dancing, Jurassic Park and Moana - which we sang along to. They also played some Charleston music, Fingals Cave and other more traditional classical pieces.

We found it really relaxing as well as fun. We all managed to stay engaged for the whole of the concert, with none of us needing a break from the new environment at all.

We can't wait to go again!
